    Mr. Winston Dookeran
    (
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) --- Leader of the Congress of the People (COP), Mr. Winston Dookeran has publicly renounced the use of reggae stars by the People’s National Movement (PNM) and the United National Congress (UNC) to influence party politics.

The statements came during a political rally which took place at Five Rivers Junction in Arouca on Monday.

“Our party is built on the sweat and the tears and the hopes of the young people of Trinidad and Tobago that is our wealth.

For those who want to have entertainment, I say of course we enjoy it. But, don’t make the mistake of thinking they are a political party”, said Dookeran.

He cited both the UNC and the PNM who both are in the process of bringing international reggae acts to perform for youth rallies in the form of Richie Spice who performed at the UNC youth rally at Macoya last Sunday and Miguel ‘Sizzla’ Collins who will perform at the PNM youth rally at the Queen’s Park Savannah on Saturday.

While Mr. Dookeran noted that the newly formed COP did not hold the same amount financial resources as the other two more established parties he noted that the party had the support of the people, pointing out that the 35 constituency offices were donated by the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
