Keeley to represent St. Kitts and Nevis at FAVACA event

~~Adz:Left~~ BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 25TH 2007 (CUOPM St. Kitts and Nevis will be represented at an event during which former Florida Governor Bob Graham will be honoured.St. Kitts and Nevis’ Honorary Consul General, Mr. Brian E. Keeley, will represent the twin-island Federation at the function, which marks the 25th Anniversary of the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean (FAVACA).

Since 1982, Florida's reputation as the "Gateway to the Americas" has gotten a quiet boost from the FAVACA.

A private, non-profit organization, FAVACA was started by then-Gov. Bob Graham and the Florida Legislature. Thousands of volunteers have worked on roughly 1,500 projects of varied types, from health education in Haiti and small business development in Mexico to domestic violence prevention training in St. Kitts and Nevis. Most projects are small in scope and short-term.

FAVACA will honour Graham with a lifetime achievement award on November 16th in Miami.

"It’s well-deserved by the former senator and governor whose workdays became famous. And it's an honor to be shared with all of FAVACA’s volunteers, for helping Florida’s international neighbors for a quarter-century," said Keeley.
