BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SIDAMO JONES, winner of the Culture Swimwear Competition, said after giving birth to her first daughter in January and deciding to enter the pageant in the same year, she knew that she had a task ahead of her by getting her body back into pre-pregnancy shape.
Not only did she wow the audience with her well-toned body, which underwent a rigorous five-day weekly gym training, but the Miss LIME contestant also captured all of the judged segments – One-Piece Swimwear, Two-Piece Swimwear and Creative Wear as well as the award for Miss Photogenic.
In an interview with SKNVibes, Jones said that preparation was tough as she had to attend the gym and modelling practice while caring for a six-month old.
“I learned patience and I learned to multi-task,” she said.
This was Jones’ third competition. She has competed in the Miss Culturama Queen Pageant in 2006, placing First Runner-up, and the National Carnival Queen Pageant where she was the Second Runner-up.
Culturama, which is usually a fun-time for many to celebrate and ‘let loose’, Jones said she strongly felt that the elections took away from the festivities and patrons were also disappointed that there were no international artiste had participated in the celebration.
On July 24, Jones amassed a total of 725 points, while Kimani Mills placed First Runner-up with 688 points and Second Runner-up Viola Chapman with 616 points, who also earned the Miss Amity award.
The Mr. Kool Competition also took place on the same night and was won by Nadaski Percival.
