A Colourful Message for Financial Literacy Month

Led by the athletes of the St. Kitts Athletic Amateur Association bearing a flag with the pictorial message “Save For Your Future”, the Financial Literacy Motorcade set off from Port Zante on Saturday 27 October at about 1:25 p.m.  The result - A fusion of popular music, colourful floats, and messages and melodies advocating financial prudence.

Also complementing this collaboration were two costume floats; the first, which was done by Banker Mas Camp, was an artistic depiction of an ECCB lady majestically clad in a gown representing the flags of the eight countries of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union and the second, a sculpture made by the Basseterre High School that depicted how one can achieve his or her dreams via savings.

The motorcade rolled around the island’s main road, advocating the message “Save For Your Future.  Stops along the route afforded the opportunity to hand our corporate gifts and make presentations about good financial management.

The staff of participating institutions - The St. Christopher Nevis Social Security Board, SNIC, ECCB, ECSE, Scotia Bank, National Caribbean Insurance, The St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank, British American and the Royal Bank of Canada - rolled on colorfully decorated trucks displaying corporate colours and advertorials.

~~Adz:Right~~ This colourful mix of green, orange, red, white, yellow and blue was punctuated with sounds from the D.J. playing such songs as “I See Money Coming”; “Dollar Wine”; “Strength of the EC$” (a la the tune of Shaggy’s hit “Strength of a Woman”) and three jingles entitled “Save for Your Future” written and sung by Chesil Hamilton aka Mark the 1st.
