BASSETERRE HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES A CASH DONATION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, 30th October, 2007 – A present student of the Basseterre High School gives to the institution that has been educating her over the past few years.
Fifteen year old Emerald Williams of the Basseterre High School (BHS), proudly handed over part of her winnings to her principal, Mrs Urlene Bloice-Roberts, during general assembly yesterday.
The cheque valued at US$1000, was part of the entitlements earned by her for winning the Travel & Leisure Magazine Naismith Basketball Foundation, CTO Tourism Youth Congress in Puerto Rico, last week.
This contribution is regularly set aside for the High School of the winner, in recognition of the work done to prepare the winning student for the competition.
In particular Cornella Caines and Carlene Morton are two teachers who have been noted by Emerald as being very instrumental in her success.
~~Adz:Right~~ When asked what the funds will be used for, Mrs Urlene Bloice-Roberts, commented, “ Part of the monetary gift will go towards the English Department.
The other part of the funds will go towards the sessions for enhancing the professional development of teachers, which will take place on Friday November 2nd, 2007 at BHS.
St. Kitts Tourism Authority’s mandate is the promotion of the destination in Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and United States.
