BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE weekend began on the quiet side with not much to do on Friday apart from the ever popular hang out on the Frigate Bay Strip, where many people socialized and drank all night.
Ziggy’s Bar was once again the highlight along with Buddies as they were filled with many locals and students partying to the sounds of the DJ.
On Saturday if you were not at De Pumpkin then you certainly missed out on a party to remember. Not only was the Slippery Cane event filled with patrons but the three major bands – Grand Masters, Small Axe and Nu Vybes ‘turned up’ the venue until sometime after 6:00 a.m.
Ladies took over the band stand which was situated under a tent ‘shubbing back’ and rotating their waistlines while some the men bounced around.
In the building inside of the venue the DJ’s also dabbled up a mixture of reggae, R&B, dancehall and some hip-hop in the overcrowded room.
However despite the smoke infested and sweatbox atmosphere most of the patrons seemed to be having a swell time.
Meanwhile, at Comfort Zone of Fort Street TNO Sounds saw mini crowds intermittently throughout the night, but the owners of the venue said they are hoping the numbers will increase, as word gets around that the location once known as Teasers has been reopened under new management.
Sunday on the other hand, was on the quiet side as it was time to get geared up for the work week ahead.
