Iantavian participates in Taiwan's Centennial celebrations

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, August 12th 2011 (CUOPM) – Reigning National Carnival Queen Ms. Iantavian Queeley is among youths from across the globe participating in the International Youth Week Centennial Homestay Programme in Taiwan.
     
    Ms. Queeley, who is also Miss Carival and Miss Caribbean Jaycees, is being hosted by a local Taiwanese family and given the opportunity to explore Taiwan’s historical sites,   delicacies, natural sceneries and culture.
     
    The Ministry of Culture says Iantavian who is very excited about the Homestay Programme believes that the exposure to the different culture and art forms in Taiwan will be beneficial in helping her to achieve her future goal of opening a performing arts theatre in St. Kitts and Nevis.
     
    “One’s creativity can be enhanced from experiencing the diversity that the world has to offer,” she is quoted by the Ministry as saying.
     
    Eager to learn, Iantavian is also upbeat to share the Federation’s culture with others and is looking forward to the banquet during which she will have a chance to display the National Dress.   
     
    The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, the National Carnival Secretariat and the Honourable Marcella Liburd congratulate the people of Taiwan on their centennial celebrations.
     
    “We are pleased that opportunities have been created for others from across the world to join in the celebrations,” said the Ministry.
     
    It thanked His Excellency Ambassador Miguel Tsao for his continued support for the Ministry’s efforts towards the enhancement of culture in St. Kitts and Nevis.
