Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Nov. 7 --- Young people in Trinidad yesterday enthusiastically exercised their right to vote at the election polls.

One San Fernando East youth, Ms. Rachael McQueen Robertson explained to SKNVibes.com in an exclusive interview her reasons for participating in the electoral process.

“I feel that I have a family obligation and it is my democratic right as a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago to go out and vote for the party of my choice. It was personal choice to go out and vote for the very first time. It was such a liberating experience because it was one of my first true adult decisions.

“My one vote helped to shape the electoral process as it exists in Trinidad and Tobago today and I was extremely proud of myself for making the decision to vote”, said Ms. Robertson.

She further encouraged young people exercise their democratic right to take part in the voting process.

Also echoing these sentiments was Ms. J’Elle Valdez of La Brea who further explained her reasons for participating in the electoral process.

“You have to exercise your franchise and be proactive just to play a role in your country. You have a democratic responsibility to vote.

It makes no sense to be complaining about your government when you have the opportunity to make a change and you do not take it.

“I feel fantastic having made my contribution because it made a difference and the party that I voted for won.

~~Adz:Left~~ So congratulations to the People’s National Movement and I look forward to many positive changes in the near and distant future”, said Ms. Valdez.

The Trinidad and Tobago General Elections were held on Monday November 5 and the People’s National Movement (PNM) came out victorious winning 25 of 41 available seats.
