    Rape Case Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

    ~~Adz:Left~~{Charlestown; Nevis} A man pleaded not guilty of incest and unlawful carnal knowledge of an underaged female, before Justice Francis Bell at the High Court in Nevis yesterday, Noevmber 6th.
     
    He is represented by Dr. Henry “Stugumber” Browne. He is accused of having carnal knowledge of a certain female 12 years and two months. The offence was allegedly committed on July 31st, 2007 at Stoney Grove.
     
    “I am absolutely not guilty,” The man told the High Court. His case will be heard on November 12. Hewitt had already been granted bail during the last criminal assizes.
     
     Lawton Forbes who faces a robbery charge pleaded not guilty when he was brought to High Court yesterday. He will continue to be remanded in custody until his case is heard on November 14th. Chesley Hamilton represents him. He committed the offence on February 27th, 2007.
     
    Sean Brown who is charged with causing grievous bodily harm and inflicting grievous bodily harm pleaded guilty to the two charges. Brown is not represented. His case will be heard on November 8th.
     
    “If you wish to bring friends to speak on your behalf, you can tell the Police,” Justice Bell told Brown.
     
    Thomas Simmonds, who is accused of using an offensive weapon to steal EC$75 from Simeon Williams pleaded guilty to the charge at first and later changed his plea to not guilty after Justice Francis Bell ruled that he would be remanded in custody until Thursday morning when his case is scheduled to be heard. 
     
    “I would like to change my plea to not guilty.” He committed the offence on July 28th 2007. Simmonds came to the High Court yesterday with both his arms in casts. 
     
    Simmonds had been granted an EC$10,000 bail at the magistrate’s court in Nevis. His bail was increased to EC$20,000. His case will be heard on Tuesday, November 13.
     
    Meanwhile, a case in which Dawn Challenger is accused of attempting to influence the Jury during Eric Weeke’s murder case is expected to be heard today, November 7th.
