BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – EARLY this morning (Aug. 14), the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis had recorded its 23rd homicide for the year with the shooting-death of a young man in Buckley’s Estate.

Dead is 27-year-old David ‘Dibaloo’ Thomas who was shot multiple times to the body at about 1:30 a.m. near to his Buckley’s Estate home that he shared with his grandfather.

Details at this time are sketchy. However, on arrival at the scene, SKNVibes had observed a heavy presence of soldiers and police as well as the motionless body of Thomas lying under a tree next to a house situated at one of the entrances to Buckley’s Estate from the Island Main Road.

This media house learnt that Thomas was sitting atop a concrete structure that surrounds the tree when the gunman or gunmen shot him and he fell backwards onto the ground under the tree.

One resident said they had heard no less than one dozen shots fired.

The body was removed from the scene by Jenkins Funeral Home under police escort after the District Medical Officer, Dr. Mervyn Laws, pronounced him dead.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Inspector Franklyn Belgrove told this media house that police had received a report of the shooting incident at approximately 1:40 a.m. and that a number of items of evidential value found at the scene were taken into custody for further analysis.

Belgrove declared that no suspect has so far been held in connection with the incident and that the police are appealing to members of the public who may have information relative to the crime to call telephone numbers 911 or 466 9279 ext. 246.

He noted that information could be given anonymously and would be held in strict confidence.
This is not the first time that Thomas was shot at.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, he was shot in the leg while in the vicinity of the railway line aback the Caribbean Cinemas in Buckley’s Estate.

It was learnt that the bullet had entered his left leg and exited on his right.
