BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH the three major bands expected to perform at various engagements over the weekend, it was indeed set to be one of merriment for many persons whose anticipation was built-up for some of the events.

On Friday the 1st Annual Queens Ball and Dinner did not go down too well as patrons were missing in numbers at the dinner at Chef’s Garden, but a small crowd showed up for the Ball at the Comfort Zone, Fort Street venue, which was decorated in style.

Meanwhile, the Frigate Bay Strip was its typical atmosphere with people gathered at different bars mixing and mingling and enjoying the sounds of DJs.

A number of events were slated for Saturday but while two were a major success, the Summer Tyme party organised by the CFB History Club flopped.

When SKNVibes arrived at the venue sometime after 1:00 a.m., it was practically empty but for two cars in the parking lot.

The Village Superstar celebration party, on the other hand, was in full motion despite the shooting incident that took place some meters away. The venue was packed with party people bouncing and waving with the team of which some were dressed in their winning shirts.

The Kings, Queens and Champions Party was described as being ‘MADDD’. Evolution had set the pace only for Triple S – Sweet Sister Sensia to turn things up even more while the bands took the tempo to a higher level and had ladies gyrating on the Manhattan Gardens’ grounds.

In the country side at G-Spot, the owner tested the water of the improved venue and had a band for the first time, as they recently upgraded the ‘pleasure zone’ which now has two areas; one for the DJs and the other for bands.

The Small Axe Band entertained a full house there on Saturday and had ladies bending over in suggestion of some of their famous lyrics.

The inside area where the DJs played was also filled to capacity with flames of fire being lit in the air and sweat-dripping bodies rocking back and forth, throwing hands in the air when a ‘big tune’ was played at the event dubbed Burn Bad Mind.

Sunday was the usual quiet day with the Frigate Bay Stripe being the only place with some action. The Somewhere Bar had seen the Grand Masters Band, which added some excitement to the Sunday night entertainment that saw small crowds gathering at intervals.

DJ Yardy also managed to pull a crowd at Ziggy’s Bar, where he juggled a variety of music throughout the night

After the night came to an end it was time to revive for the work week ahead.
