    Charlestown Secondary’s Dynamic Designs Company donates to charity

     

     

     

    CSS Junior Achievement Club and Dynamic Designs of Nevis and their business teachers display their awards and winners trophy
    CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (NOVEMBER 09, 2007)
    -- At a special closing ceremony for the Junior Achievement (JA) innovative company project at the Charlestown Secondary School (CSS)
    auditorium on Thursday November 8th, members of Dynamic Designs of Nevis company made charitable donations to the Special Education Unit and the Charlestown Pre-School. The Company also presented gifts to persons who had assisted them to win the coveted 2006-2007 Junior Achievement Youth in Business project.
     
    A total of seven secondary schools from throughout St. Kitts and Nevis competed in the Junior Achievement (JA) company project.  On October 30th 2007 at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Headquarters, St. Kitts, Dynamic Designs Company won in a number of categories and was adjudged the overall winner of the main category.
     
    Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dynamic Designs of Nevis, Mr. Kris Liburd received an award for outstanding student.  During the Company’s closing ceremony, the CEO said it had made $7,835.14 in sales, with a net profit of $4,047.58 and had decided to contribute a percentage its profits to charity.  He also spoke of the benefits gained from the project.

    “The students who participated in the programme gained invaluable experiences which could never be acquired in the classroom.  We learnt that running a successful business requires hard work, total commitment, time, effective communication, proper planning, accurate record keeping, creativity and collaboration.  We made mistakes, but we learnt from them.
     
    “Some members of JA whose entrepreneurial instincts were awaken by their experiences in the company, have started their own business:  Dynamic Designs of Nevis has been liquidated, but it has given birth to a new company, Dynamic and Different Two, which is owned and operated by four former members of Dynamic Designs of Nevis,” Mr. Liburd said.
     
    Dynamic Designs began operations in January 2007 and was spearheaded by a group of 29 students and four business teachers of the CSS.  It also had an elected Board of Directors that included Kris Liburd, Deanza Bowrin, Mesha Bartlett, Latoya Jones, Krysta Liburd, Shonroy Caesar, Joanne Flemming and Emily Prentice.
     
    Their products included handmade jewelry, Valentine’s Day gifts and seat cushions adorned with the company’s logo.  The Junior Achievement Club had much gratitude for Mrs. Iona Yvonne Rogers who imparted her artistic and creative skills in art and craft which enabled them to win the competition.
     
    ~~Adz:Left~~The Charlestown Secondary School Dynamic Designs displayed their trophies and awards during the ceremony and received their certificates of participation in the Junior Achievement Programme from the school.
     
    The winning categories were Best Display at the annual Junior Achievement Trade Fair held in April of 2007 at Independence Square on St. Kitts. The Best Financial Report, the company with the highest profit, Junior Achiever of the Year Award and the Winners Trophy landed them in first place.
     
    Head of the schools’ Business Department, Mrs. Pamela Pemberton, took the opportunity to congratulate all the members of the JA team and expressed gratitude to the entire CSS staff, parents and media houses for assisting the students in their endeavours.   
     
    Meantime, CSS Principal, Mr. Edson Elliott said he was aware Dynamic Designs of Nevis members had worked extremely hard work on the Junior Achievement Project and told the students that it was satisfying to know that hard work had brought success.
     
    The Junior Achievement Programme was designed the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank to educate students about entrepreneurship, financial literacy, commercial and technical skills through experimental hands on projects.
