Cable General Manager mum on possible layoff rumour

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RUMOURS, which suggest that The Cable is considering placing a number of its employers on the bread line, have yet to be confirmed or refuted by the institution’s upper management body.

This publication was made aware of the rumours earlier today (Aug. 16), which suggest that the company may be experiencing financial difficulty and, in an attempt to ease the burden, might be considering cutting its staff.

SKNVibes contacted Labour Commissioner Spencer Amory and recounted the rumour to him, to which he responded that no such information has reached his desk.

“I am not aware of it. Nothing has been brought to my attention from the Cable on that matter,” he expressed.

Contact was also made with The Cable’s General Manager, Bill Ewing, who indicated that he has no comment to make on that issue at the moment.

“There is no comment on that right now. I don’t know where that came from. There is no comment on that right now.”

Next month, The Cable, of which the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis owns 51 percent, will be celebrating 28 years of service to residents of St. Kitts.
