Big two day Home Grown Music Festival set for next month

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Home Grown Festival which was a big hit in 2004 and 2007 is now being revived by its originator Crucial Bankie alongside his new committee members.

The two day festival will take place on September 16 and 17 at the Verchilds Play Field from 10:00 a.m. each day.

According to the Director of the Festival Crucial Bankie, the purpose of the Festival and its mission statement is to structure entertainment with the intention of developing, showcasing and internationalising all aspects of our creative and cultural arts.

Bankie said the main reason for the Festival being held over a two day period is because of the many talents the Federation possesses; therefore it was impossible to expose them all in one day.

Friday night will see artistes such as Nicha B, Infamus and Footsy along with the Green House Band and the Nu Vybes band International.

Saturday will see some of the veterans that include Masud Sadiki, Iyatola, Anastasia, a few Nevisian artistes and Crucial Bankie himself as well as the Grand Masters Band.

The Director told SKNVibes that he and his team are hoping to make this an annual event from this year. He said they would move the venue to different communities and even consider the possibility of hosting one in Nevis.

The performances will be done in the night while the day will see a number of folklore performances and other activities that are currently being finalised.

He indicated that they are also working on streaming the event live on the internet to further expose the artistes.
