ROADTOWN Tortola, BVI, August 19th 2011 - “You always got to be, you are supposed to be confident,” he told VINO in an exclusive interview.

While he recognizes the role of campaigning, the party leader said the minds of the people are already made up and he does not believe political meetings can change their minds.

“You get a lot of noise but I think the people’s minds are already made up.

I don’t think they can change their minds at a night’s meeting, or two or three nights’ meetings, the people’s minds are made up,” the Premier pointed out.

    God is still speaking.

When asked if he will be leading the VIP into the upcoming general election, the Premier said, “God is still speaking”.

He had previously told VINO that God did not speak to him before regarding his future as leader of the party and he was waiting on God to tell him what to do.

“I am still communicating with him in prayer and have not got my answer as yet,” he told VINO.

The Virgin Islands Party is yet to launch their political campaign but the Party leader assured that it will be launched soon. Asked how soon and if it maybe in a couple of weeks, Premier O’ Neal asked, “that might not be stretching it too far?”

However, he said people will hear in good time what is going on.

So far, two political parties have already launched their campaigns along with several independent candidates. The VI’s newest political party, the People’s Patriotic Alliance have launched their campaign and three At Large candidates while the opposition National Democratic Party (NDP) have also officially launched with their full slate of candidates with the exception of a candidate for the 1st Electoral District which is currently held by incumbent and VIP stalwart Hon. Andrew Fahie.

The People’s Party of Allen Wheatley, the United Party of Conrad Maduro and the VIP of Hon. O’ Neal are yet to announce their campaign launch or candidates.

With the general elections constitutionally due by November, it is expected that outstanding launches will take place very soon and VINO will bring you full coverage of all election news and launches.
