    BRADES, Montserrat, August 19th, 2011  – Michael Skerritt of Virgin Islands, St Peters has been awarded the United Kingdom’s most prestigious scholarship – the Chevening Scholarship funded by the FCO, to study for a Masters programme in the United Kingdom.

     

    Skerritt will be the recipient of one of only two scholarships to be awarded to the Overseas Territories by Chevening for the next academic year. A candidate in Anguilla has been awarded the second one.

     

    Skerritt, who is the Assistant Engineer at the Public Works Department has a first degree from the University of the West Indies in the field of Science Engineering (Civil Engineering) and under his Chevening award will study for a Masters of Science in Infrastructure at the University of Nottingham.

     

    Micahel is the son of Financial Secretary, the Hon. John Skerritt and former Head of the STI/HIV/AIDS Unit Mrs. Angella Skerrit. He will commence his studies in late September of this year.

     

    His Excellency the Governor, Mr Adrian Davis has extended his personal congratulations to Mr. Skerritt on this achievement.
