How can We See Changes In Our Young People?

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, August 25th 2011 - Many of us want to see changes in our young people, but not sacrificing to help bring that change in them.  One may ask, how can that change come about?  It first has to starts with us (adults), by helping our future generation be a better person and imparting into their lives positively.  There are so many young people who have been and are being abused physically, verbally and sexually.  What really caused me to host a camp this year?  After being a volunteer worker at Divine Faith Ministries Camp in Atlanta, and working with children of different races and background, it caused me to get even more humble before God.  Many children just need love and attention, and that what inspired me to host a camp this year for our children especially the less fortunate, where our children can feel secured, and not neglected.  Our camp has been a place where our campers are being provided with exceptional quality instruction in a fun, safe and nurturing environment.  My passion and commitments to these children has set me a part to realize the importance of our youths.  The camp theme is “Building the Mind physically, socially & spiritually.”

Today, we have 25 children between aged 4 – 15 years, who are a part of this camp.  On Friday 2nd September 2011 at the St. Johnston Community Centre, 7pm, they would be displaying their talents for you under the theme, “LOVE, JOY & PEACE,” which comes from the fruit of the Spirit – Gal 5:22.  The mini concert will also be a back to school gala where students will be given school supplies at the end of the camp, and other gifts to show our love and appreciation.  It’s FREE of cost, and we extend a warm invitation to everyone, especially our young people of this federation.

Please give our young people your support. Refreshments will be on sale!

During the first week of the camp, the children were involved in a number of activities such as dancing, drama, singing, movie and most importantly, the study of the Word of God and understanding the importance of serving God and attending Sunday school.  We had a guest speaker, Mrs. Icilma Knight who spoke to the children about choosing right over wrong – Psalm 27:3.  Mrs. Knight, we sincerely thank you.

For the last week of the camp, we would be getting involved in craft work where some of these work will be on display the night of our concert of Friday, and an Island tour.

On the night of the concert, we would have a few guest artists such as some of the students of the Youth Outreach Dance Ministry who would display some of their ballet term done at their summer dance workshop earlier this month.

Ms. Andrea Caines has been doing some fine work this summer to help mould and elevate our young people.  As Ms. Caines leaves next month to continue her training in dance, she would like to encourage our young people to stay positive, think positive, speak positive and act positive. To the end, you will get good results.

Ms. Caines would like to thank Almighty God for the strength He has given to me to impart into our young people, Pastor Lincoln Connor and Ms. Dian Pringle.  She looks forward in sharing more knowledge to our young people in the near future.
