     LONDON, UK (August 30, 2011) – The UK based international development organisation, RAFFA has been awarded the coveted London 2012 Inspire mark for the ‘Passing the Baton Festival’.

     

    According to release from RAFFA, the festival which will be held next April ahead of the Summer Olympics aims to inspire ‘peaceful, caring & enterprising neighbourhoods’, with a programme of exciting events and activities focused on:

     

    • Youth ( arts, sports, culture, music, hair & fashions shows )

     

    • Health & Wellbeing

     

    • Business & Enterprise

     

    • Learning & Skills and

     

    • Volunteering for Social Action
     
    Rudi Page, CEO of RAFFA and Executive member of More Than Gold, stated “This is a very exciting achievement, we are delighted to receive this award from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG). It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve this recognition. We aim to connect and inspire sustainable relationships across countries, communities, cultures and generations”.

     

    Passing the Baton Festival, has utilized the key aims of 2012 Games as a catalyst to reach young people all around the world, by leveraging facilities, practitioners, professionals and social entrepreneurs.

     

    RAFFA International Development Agency is an independent charity, which was launched by the Church of God of Prophecy in 2006. The RAFFA system is a Diaspora-led model (aligned with the Millennium Development Goals), which brings together local, regional and national stakeholders to embrace the challenges and opportunities associated with the integration of local and International Development Co-operation.
