    Ms. Rachael McQueen Robertson
(Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) --- “Big things come in small packages and this how I feel about my ambitions; they start small but hopefully one day they will have far-reaching effects. I want to be someone who youth can look up to and connect with.”

These were the words of 20 year-old Rachael McQueen Robertson who is originally from Pleasantville, San Fernando and who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in the field of the English Language and Literature with Education at the University of the West Indies (UWI).

Ms. McQueen Robertson attended Holy Faith Convent in Penal from the years 1999-2004 and then returned in 2004 to pursue advanced studies in the fields Modern Studies which comprised of Literatures in English, Sociology, Caribbean Studies and Communication Studies.

After completing advanced studies in 2006 Ms. McQueen Robertson made the decision to further her education and attend the UWI.

“I made the decision to enter the University of the West Indies when I entered into Sixth Form because I realized that I really wanted to pursue my ambition of being a teacher. I want to be a teacher because of the influence that my past teachers have had on me.

She further attributed her interest in Education to an ambition to be a role model and change lives. ~~Adz:Right~~

“I want to be someone who youth can look up to and connect with. I feel that this is important because young people need direction because that is how I made it through High School having teachers that helped me who I could connect with”, said Ms. McQueen Robertson.

In ending the interview, Ms. McQueen Robertson described her experience at the UWI a worthwhile challenge.

“My UWI experience has been stressful but it has helped me to grow both emotionally and mentally. I think that I have grown as a person as I have learned to balance my school life as well as my social life.

“I feel that tertiary education is a very fulfilling experience as it adds to your character, makes you more marketable to employers. Coming to UWI has helped me to forge new relationships and strengthen old ones”, said Ms. McQueen Robertson in closing.
