Therapy Works Rebels sweeps Labor Day Weekend tournament

    UVI, St. Thomas. September 5th, 2011 -- Therapy Works Rebels are the 2011 Labor Day Weekend Volleyball Champions after defeating the Rock City (St. Thomas) Club in an exciting final, on September 4, 29-27, 25-18, 25-27, 25-23.

     

    The newly crowned champion won all five of their matches to finish the tournament with an unblemished record. The other teams that were defeated were Club Antigua and Club UVI. En route to victory, Therapy Works Rebels defeated Rock City and Club UVI on two occasions each.

     

    The monumental victory was the second championship in as many tournaments for the Therapy Works Rebels.
    Jamaican right side attacker Mark Lewis and St. Kitts and Nevis setter Campbell Douglas spearheaded the offense for the champion.

     

    Lewis, the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and Best Attacker was virtually unstoppable with his cracking spikes and Douglas, Best Setter, kept the opposition’s defense true with excellent setting.

     

    St. Clair Hodge, Matthew Schakell, Jacques Gumbs, Jason Liburd and Shawn Seabrookes ensured that the team had excellent balance frustrated the opposition with sterling defense.

     

    “We have achieved of our objective of winning the championship and now our focus is on creating opportunities for our team to compete elsewhere,” Coach/ player Jason Liburd indicated.

     

    “I was truly amazed with the talent of our players and I can only envision us getting stronger as a squad,” he added.

     

    Proprietor of team sponsor Therapy Works, Dr. Jerry Smith, was on hand to collect the championship trophy and share in the spoils of victory with his team.

     

    Therapy Works is an outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapy Organization led by primary therapist Dr. J. Richard Smith. The institution offers a wide range of rehabilitation programs and its services have been revered by a rapidly growing clientele.

     

    The relationship between the Rebels volleyball team and Therapy Works is considered monumental as it underscores how essential physical therapy and knowledge of the human anatomy are critical for longevity in sport and daily life.
