PM Douglas says his St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Government is “Focus and On Course”

Prime Minister and leader of St. Kitts-Nevis Government, Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, DECEMBER 7TH 2007 (CUOPM)
    – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas says his Labour Government remains focused and on course as the Federation’s development agenda is rife with capital projects for the future.

Speaking at Thursday’s ceremony to mark the delivery of 7,000 barrels of diesel from the Government of Venezuela under the Petro Caribe Energy Cooperation Agreement, Prime Minister Douglas said it will bring untold benefits to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and to other people of the Caribbean region.

“The development agenda of my government is rife with capital projects,” said Prime Minister Douglas, adding:

“Those of you who think that we have moved progressively forward in a short and rapid time, you will see this country in the next two to three years.”

Prime Minister Douglas identified several upcoming projects including the Manderin Oriental and the Ritz Carlton, all of which he said will require a reliable and sustained power supply which the government must seek to produce in an efficient and cost effective manner. ~~Adz:Right~~

“We are focused and on the right track. We are on course. The cargo fuel that was delivered by Ocean Breeze to these tanks across from my right will have a multiplier effect and provide the appropriate catalyst to drive infrastructural development and create opportunities for social advancement within our communities,” said Dr. Douglas.

He said the Needsmust Power Plant uses 575 barrels of diesel per day, which is 17,250 per month.

“This has increased following the commissioning of the new 4 megawatt generator and will increase even further following the receipt and commissioning of the second new generator to be delivered within 3 weeks time. This country will always be lighted,” said Dr. Douglas.
