Red Cross Host Awards Dinner for Volunteers

~~Adz:Left~~ (Basseterre, St. Kitts): On December 1st the St. Kitts/Nevis Red Cross society held an awards dinner at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel.
According to Mrs. Natalia Fough, the dinner was an appreciation dinner for all local Red Cross Volunteers, as a prelude to Red Cross International Volunteers Day, which was celebrated on December 5th.
Twelve persons were awarded from five different districts for their sterling contributions to service in the red Cross- Shane Williams, Juhnel Tross, Paulette Richards, Eurklyn Kelly, Lorella Eddy, Nakeisha Hyligar, Merleen Connor, Jesica Williams, Suzette Hodge, Kimoy Williams, Clifford Warner and the late Koris Woodley.
Two of the twelve, the late Koris Woodley and Clifford Warner, were given two extra special awards for their genuine display of volunteering over the years and their dedication to service. Fredrick Woodley the father of the late Koris Woodley, accepted the award on behalf of his deceased son
They also announced that there would be an annual “Koris Woodley Memorial Award” to any volunteer seventeen years and under within the St. Kitts/Nevis Red Cross Society, who has shown evidence of country involvement, innovation, within the conforms of the seven fundamental principles which are “humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.” They must also behave in accordance with the national society’s code of conduct for volunteers, rules and or the federation code of ethics and federation principles of voluntary service.
The dinner was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Sam Condor, who gave the feature address and other red cross officials.
