Nevis Island Administration
Nevis civil servants to receive salary increase and back pay

Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance in the Nevis Island Administration Hon. Joseph Parry
CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (DECEMBER 13, 2007) -- Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) Hon. Joseph Parry, confirmed on Tuesday December 13, 2007, that all civil servants on Nevis would benefit from a five percent salary increase and would receive retroactive pay from January 01, 2007.

Mr. Parry said the decision was taken after consultation with St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Denzil Douglas on December 04, 2007.

“The back pay will be paid on 14th December, 2007. The five percent interim increase continues until the general review of salaries for civil servants in mid 2008.

“This review will be conducted by the Caribbean Centre for Development (CARICAD) and the structure of the civil service will be examined as part of the review,” he said.

He also used the opportunity to urge the civil servants to use the money which would increase their opportunity to have a good Christmas and a healthy New Year wisely and to remember their less fortunate neighbours and friends as they enjoyed the season. ~~Adz:Right~~
