BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LIME is showing no signs of slowing down in their contributions towards the development of education as today (Sept. 9) they announced the second phase of their Internet for Life package.
The big announcement took place at the Basseterre High School in the presence of the fourth and fifth form students, teachers and Principal, Mrs. Carlene Henry-Morton.

LIME’s General Manger, David Lake announced that, in addition to the laptops that will be distributed by the government, LIME will be offering a package whereby internet services will be given at reduced rates for the remainder of the students’ secondary school life.

Lake explained that students, after receiving their government issued laptop, can have their parents or guardians come in to the LIME store on Cayon Street, sign up for internet service and receive one month free service.

It does not end there! Parents and guardians will have the luxury of paying only EC$49 per month for the following three months, and only EC$75 for the balance of their child’s secondary school life.

Existing customers will not be left out as those who already have internet service with LIME will get a free 3M upgrade.

This package is available for all fourth and fifth form students who receive government issued laptops throughout St. Kitts

“We are doing this because we want you to take your education seriously, we want you to know that LIME, The Ministry of Education, and other business partners stand behind you we want you to excel, we want you to be the best that you can be,” Lake told the students.

Minister of Education, Hon. Nigel Carty, while assuring the students that their laptops will be issued in the very near future, encouraged the children to make very good use of them.

“We are giving you tools for learning, tools for self development, so yes, we want you to explore, play games and so forth, but most importantly, we want you to use the laptops which will be made available to you to as a tool for learning and for self development,” Minister Carty strongly urged the students.

Carty thanked the Republic of China on Taiwan as they were very instrumental in helping the government to acquire the laptops that will be distributed to the students.

He also thanked LIME for once again coming onboard to assist in making sure the students are fully connected in order for them to make good use of the laptops.

The Minister requested that LIME prepare a package to facilitate the teachers as well noting that they must have access to the internet for research and “to stay one step ahead of the students”.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to take advantage of this extra special package.
