BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DID somebody say “Woman Power”? In what is expected to be a big treat next month, not one but five female artistes from Jamaica; Alaine, Tanya Stephens, Ce’Cile, Lady Saw and Queen Ifrica will join some of the Federation’s top female divas in a concert dubbed ‘Stitch in Time’ to honor women.

The concert is being held on October 28 at Warner Park by Pandas Entertainment and will also see local female performers such as Queen Anastasia, Empress Livity, Rolhensha and Shakki.

Wayne Clarke of Pandas Entertainment stressed that the purpose of the concert is to showcase women in a positive light and added that all of the artistes have agreed to keep the show positive.  The concert will also to pay tribute to the women of the Federation and will be a culmination of what would have taken place the day before.

The artistes are expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday, October 26 and as planned they would then visit the schools on Thursday 27, where they would speak to the students about topics such as cancer awareness, crime, health, gender quality, empowerment of women as well as abuse and its effects.

Clarke indicated that the name of the concert- Stitch In Time - is derived from Masud Sadiki’s ‘Stitch in Time’ song, which the Federation’s national reggae star had dedicated to the fight to end violence against women.  After he had consulted with the singer, they agreed that giving the concert that name would be a great idea.

The song is also being used by the United Nations Development Fund for Women in their world-wide campaign to end domestic violence.

The concert will be all about women and will feature female performers only with the exception of the DJ’s and backing band.

Each one of the international artistes will perform for no less than one hour, while the local sensations will open for them and set the pace for the concert which will be hosted by Sister Sensia and Rachel Price.

Tickets for the concert are EC$50 in advance or EC$75 at the gate  and are available at NR Sales, Morton’s Supermarket, Wheels and Brakes, Gabby’s Shop, B’s Enterprises, Richard’s Shop and Fraites & Sons Enterprises.
