Charlestown Nevis,September 22nd, 2011 -- Nevisian student Miss Clayticia Daniel, 16, of the Gingerland Secondary School, placed second at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Tourism Youth Congress in St. Martin on Saturday, September 17th.
Ms. Kitwanic Carbon 15, a student of the Convent High School in Dominica won the competition, while Cassandra Vital a 5th Form student at Christ the King High School in Antigua was third.
The 11 “Junior Ministers” were challenged to evaluate the travel and Tourism Sector, assessing how tourists would justify their spending and how Caribbean destinations could make tourism choices easier.
The “mystery topic”, challenged them to share a product idea that would attract the family tourism market.
Advisor to Tourism in Nevis, Mr. Alistair Yearwood said he was very proud of Miss Daniel’s answer as she outlined specifically the important aspects of what Nevis had to offer to attract the family tourism market in Nevis.
“Clayticia was definitely the crowd favorite throughout the competition and one could see that she was well poised and very prepared throughout the event,” said Mr. Yearwood.
Miss Daniel and the two other winners each received a laptop computer donated by the CTO Allied Membership as well as cash prizes.
