ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, September 22nd, 2011 -- “This is the number on the preliminary voters’ list,” she told Virgin Islands News Online, as today Thursday September 22, 2011 marks the last day for persons to make any claims and objections to the list.

Furthermore, the 8th district has the second highest number with 275 voters. The other districts are as follows: 1st district 115; 2nddistrict 100; 4th district 118; 5th district 136; 6th district 160; 7th district 130 and the 9th district 121.

With regards to the preliminary voters’ list, the Supervisor of Elections said there were no major objections just some individuals’ names were misspelt, some had changed occupation and were living at new addresses.

Albeit, today being the last day for an eligible voter to make any changes, Ms. Penn told this news agency she cannot disclose a time frame of when the official list will be made public, since it “hinges on a number of things I really can’t go into now”.

A few days ago, the Elections Office revealed that 12,656 potential voters were on the preliminary list, and Ms. Penn gave Virgin Islands News Online a breakdown per district.

In the 1st district there are 1,396 voters; 2nd district 1,250; 3rd district 1,543; 4th district 1,350; 5th district 1,534; 6th district 1,523; 7thdistrict 1.159; 8th district 1,398 and the 9th district 1,503.

And while many are awaiting the announcement of Election Day, Ms. Penn noted everything is in place for the day with officers already trained to man the 19 polling stations throughout the Territory.

The stations will be opened from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The last general elections was held on August 20, 2007.
