              Nathan Shipley arrested and charged for the offences of Driving without a valid driver’s license

     
    Nathan Shipley of Camps Village was arrested and charged on Wednesday 23rd January 2008 for the offences of Driving without a valid driver’s license, Driving without due care and attention and Driving without insurance.
     
    He will appear before the court shortly.
     
    ~~Adz:Left~~ At a sitting of the Charlestown Magistrate Court on Wednesday 22nd January 2008, the following persons were convicted and sentenced as follows, by presiding Magistrate Ms. Yasmin Clarke:
    1.    Walter Parris of Stapleton Village, St. Kitts, who was arrested and charged for the offences of (a) Causing a vessel to arrive at a place other than a custom port, was cautioned. (b) Being the master of a vessel and without the consent of a Custom Officer or a Police Officer, leave the immediate vicinity of such vessel for which he was fined five-thousand dollars ($5000.00) in one month or serve twelve months in prison. (c)
     
    Being the master of a vessel, did fail to notify the Comptroller of Customs of the expected arrival of his vessel for which he was fined five-thousand dollars ($5000.00) in one month or serve twelve months in prison. (d) Arriving in the Federation by sea on a motor vessel, entered Tamarind Bay, Nevis, not being a formal port of entry, he was sentenced to twelve months in prison. (e) Disembarking the vessel without the consent of an Immigration Officer, he was sentenced to twelve months in prison. (f) Possession of Cannabis with intent to supply, he was fined two-hundred thousand dollars ($200,000.00) in one month or serve three years in prison and (g) Importation of Cannabis into the Federation; he was sentenced to three years in prison. All sentences are to run consecutively.
     
     
    2.    Franklyn Browne of St. Vincent who was arrested and charged for the offence of Arriving in the Federation by sea on a motor vessel and entering at tamarind Bay, Nevis, which is not a formal port of entry, was sentenced to twelve months in prison.
     
    3.    Nigel Forde of St. Vincent who was arrested and charged with the offences of Arriving in the Federation by sea on a motor vessel did enter at Tamarind Bay, Nevis, which is not a formal port of entry, was sentenced to twelve months in prison and Disembarking the vessel without the consent of an Immigration Officer, he was sentenced to twelve months in prison.  ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    These convictions came about as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Police, St.Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard and The Customs and Excise Department, when on Thursday 17th January 2008, the vessel, Louana Two and the drugs were discovered at Tamarind Bay, Nevis, The men were subsequently arrested in St. Kitts. Drug charges are pending in St. Kitts against two of the men.
     
    On Thursday 24th January 2008, Romeo Cannonier of Parsons Village who was arrested and charged in July 2004 for the murder of Police Constable Delvin Nisbett was sentenced to death by Hanging at a sitting of the January Criminal Assizes. Cannonier was convicted at the September 2007 assizes.
     
    The High Command of The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is pleased with the outcome of the trial, and the sentence handed down by the court, and trust that it has brought a sense of closure to all who were affected by PC Nisbett’s untimely death.
