Owen Arthur advanced the lives of the peoples of Barbados and the Caribbean

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 24TH 2008 (CUOPM) – Former Barbados Prime Minister the Right Hon. Owen Arthur has been told that he has advanced the lives of the people of Barbados, especially the ordinary people who require the protection and assistance of a strong Government.
In a letter to the former Barbadian PM, who has since relinquished the leadership of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP), Prime Minister Douglas told Mr. Arthur that as he moves into a different but vitally critical role in serving his country, “I wish you God’s speed with regards to, both your public and private life.”
Dr. Douglas also told Mr. Arthur that he was grateful for the friendship “we have developed during your tenure as Prime Minister of Barbados as we worked together to advance our countries and peoples of the Caribbean.”
“I am certain that this new circumstance would not deter your will and commitment to that particular cause,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
