Basseterre, St Kitts:- Ocean Terrace Inn was the venue for the Launch of a new product line from Harris Paints. Roslyn Sorhaindo, Sales Manager Harris Paints (Dominica) Limited and Mr Kevin Welch, Senior Technical Consultant/N.A.C.E Coating Inspector Harris Paints (Guyana) Limited (NACE-National Association of Corrosion Engineers) flew in to St Kitts to introduce the product line locally.
Kevin Welch the presenter, gave an overview of the Products in the Devoe High Performance Coatings line. He also gave quite an in-depth explanation of what corrosion was, the environment in which it occurred and how it affected the appearance and strength of buildings, silos, bridges, storage tanks, telecommunications towers, food/beverage processing laboratories and the like.
The DEVOE products launch presentation would have been beneficial as well to owners of bakeries, restaurants, hotels, hospitals and even schools as Mr Welch also introduced floor coatings which had anti-microbial properties within the actual material, which kept flies at bay and killed odor causing bacteria. These coatings would replace the normal tiling processes used which due to the grouting allows for bacteria to be trapped and grow in the cracks between the tiles.

based on that company’s need to protect buildings or other property/environment. It was however, disappointing that more businesses did not take advantage of the opportunity to learn of another option when it comes to covering their floors and or protecting metal, plastic and fibreglass framework and tank/storage structures. Mention was also made of coatings which could withstand temperatures of over 1000 degrees which are indicated for painting/coating rooms in which boilers and or generators are housed.
The Harris Paints team had done some house-to-house visits during business hours yesterday.
Some of the businesses lucky enough to be approached by them were SOL, Carib Breweries, St Kitts Bottling Co, the St Kitts Marriott Resort, the Auberge Resort & Christophe Harbour Developers at the South East Peninsula, and St Kitts Masonry Products. It is expected that later today the team will be travelling to the sister island of Nevis to make some more one-on-one visits to businesses needing the type of service that TDC/Harris Paints can offer through their paints/coatings. ~~Adz:Left~~
