BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER many hours last night (Sep. 30) Nordia Demming was crowned the Miss East Pearl Cultural Queen at the Newtown Playing Field having exhibited some outstanding performances in each of the four judged segments.
Demming also took with her title the awards for Best Ambassadorial Wear and Promotional Speech, Best Evening Wear and Miss Amity.
She also received Best Talent which pleased the audience who loved the excellent drama performances she gave depicting different personalities out of the Newtown community.
Shandor Wilkinson, who without a doubt in the crowd’s mind took Miss Photogenic, was also awarded ‘Best Creative Wear’ for a piece dubbed ‘ViVa La Newtown’ and was named Second Runner-up while Tivana Richards walked away as First Runner-up.
The other two remaining contestants were Jascur Hobson and Dolena Boyd.
The contestants were all adorned in the same dresses but it was the fit, colour and grace which Demming displayed in hers that separated her from the rest.
Although there were no sideshows, except for renditions from the Small Axe Band, the show climaxed very late.
The show did not get into full swing until some minutes before 10:00 p.m. and ended just after 2:00 a.m.
