    Minister Skerritt drops in on SKN students at UVI

    Hon. Richard Skerritt, Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport
    (St. Thomas, USVI):
    Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Hon. Richard Skerritt, has implored Kittitian and Nevisian students attending the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) to give of their efforts as they strive to excel at the United States Virgin Islands University.
     
    Skerritt provided the words of encouragement as he dropped in on the UVI St. Kitts-Nevis Association's weekly meeting on Thursday last, January 31st.
     
    The Minister was at the University as the featured speaker at the UVI's Donor Reception, the previous day, when he decided to pay a courtesy call on the body.
     
    He advised the students to focus on not only excelling in academics but also in athletics. He also undescored the importance of forging strong bonds with other students as such relationships are critical in overcoming various university challenges.
     
    To illustrate his point, the Minister spoke of several personal experiences where strong friendships were an integral part in his personal development.
     
    Minister Skerritt also expressed his joy with the existence of the UVI St. Kitts-Nevis Association and noted that he would be quick to lend his expertise and advice to the organization. ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    President of the UVI St. Kitts-Nevis Association, Mahalia Pemberton, said she was delighted with the Minister's visit and noted that the association would utilize his advice to the fullest in order to fulfil its objective of paving the way for future Kittitian and Nevisian students.
