~~Adz:Left~~ TORTOLA, BVI - THE British Virgin Islands has recorded its first homicide for 2008 when a wife and mother of two was gunned down outside her Freebottom home on Monday February 4.

Donna Baronville (40) was reportedly on the balcony of her Elliott Hodge apartment in Freebottom talking on her cellular phone when she was shot several times.

An Emergency Medical Technician revealed to SKNVibes.com that Baronville was shot more than five times and received her first gunshot wound in her side, while other bullets penetrated her feet and chest.

At the time of the shooting, Baronville’s children were said to have been inside the home while her husband was asleep.

One neighbor, who reportedly heard the reports of gunfire sometime in the night between 9:30 and 10:00, thought it was someone “testing their gun”.

Moments after the shooting, police and the ambulance were summoned to the scene; however Baronville had already drew her last breath.

Her body was removed from the scene by Davis Funeral Home sometime after 2 a.m.

Her co-workers at Caribbean Insurers Ltd. arrived at the scene and huddled in a corner sobbing while her two children were crying uncontrollably and shouting that their mother was not dead.

The children left the area at around 11 p.m. in the company of their father, Baronville’s ex-husband.

Baronville was described as a jolly person, always quick to make jokes but someone who was a devout Christian. The victim was originally from Trinidad but has lived in the BVI for a number of years.

According to the police Press Release, authorities are keeping an open mind as to the motive for the killing and are appealing to any person who may have witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in the area to inform the local police by calling the confidential hotline: 1-800-744-8477.
