BASSETERRE, St. Kitts:  RAYMOND ‘Tuss’ Rawlins of Malone Avenue, who was shot by police after being found on the premises of the Salvation Army, has been formally charged with Battery on Police.  Rawlins was also charged on Tuesday with the related offence of being found in enclosed premises.

Initial reports were that at about 1:00 a.m. on the morning of Saturday 9th February 2008, Salvation Army officials who reside at the said premises at Cayon Street contacted the police when they discovered that someone was in their yard attempting to break into their house.~~Adz:Right~~

When police arrived on the scene, they met Rawlins, 28, and when they attempted to apprehend him, Rawlins tried to wrestle one of the officers’ gun away from him. During the scuffle, the suspect was shot in the abdomen and rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

He is expected to appear before a court of law at the earliest convenience to answer to the said charges.
