    Henry Marsham Jr
ST. THOMAS, USVI: THIRTY two year old Kittitian Henry Marsham Jr. is transforming the fashion landscape in the United States Virgin Islands and his ingenuity has the potential to impact the entire Eastern Caribbean in a short time.

The young man is the driving force behind Virgin Islands Fashion Week; a string of activities aimed at putting the USVI smack in the midst of the lucrative fashion industry. En route to achieving such an objective, Marsham and his coordinating team are also working assiduously to open windows of opportunity for promising young models on the island.

Virgin Islands Fashion Week is a new event on the Virgin Islands calendar of activities-- the debut event was from October 2-8, last year-- but already it is being recognized as one of the premier fashion events in the Virgin Islands sub region.

The Premier Fashion week was held at the prestigious Marriott Frenchman Reef Resort, on St. Thomas, and the positive reviews keep coming. Many are eagerly anticipating the second edition which is set for October 6-18.

"With tourism being the main industry in the USVI, it is always good when we can find innovative ways within this sector to create more opportunities, hence the push to the Fashion Week," Marsham said.

"Needless to say, St. Thomas is fast becoming a niche for fashion vacationers throughout the world and we would be fools if we do not capitalize on the market," the Chief Executive Producer of the Virgin Islands Fashion Week commented.

Among the featured activities for the week are a fashion design modeling and cosmetology workshop, a VIP Governor's reception, a run way fashion show dubbed ‘The Caribbean Catwalk’, interview skills workshops and various press conferences to broadcast ideas and showcase models and designers.

Additionally, the week boasts a fashion court where patrons can purchase their designs of choice. ~~Adz:Right~~

The official sponsor of the event is the USVI Department of Tourism. Marsham continuously expresses his gratitude to the Department for their partnership, which is critical in the quality promotion of the vent.

The Department of Tourism has also recognized that the event has benefited them as well, and they have steadfastly showered Marsham with accolades for his bold step to lead the USVI in the quest to earn a piece of the fashion industry's pie.

To see the young man behind the event could be quite misleading, as he is very short in stature. However, his leadership qualities cannot be hidden. Marsham has held managerial positions in McDonald's, K-Mart, Coral World Ocean Park and he has also produced ‘A Walk Down the Aisle’; one of the largest bridal expos in the US Virgin Islands.

He has been living in the USVI for the past several years and says his intention is to continue to let his exceptional talents reflect his thirst for success as well as showcase his beloved St. Kitts and Nevis.
