Cable & Wireless Press Release

Cable & Wireless launches estore; makes deliveries for Valentine’s Day

Days after the launch of its online mobile store, Cable & Wireless was out and about on Valentine’s Day making deliveries of phones that were ordered on line.  Four phones were featured as part of the special package of the initial online offer launched one week before Valentine’s Day.

The launch which took place in the presence of the local media included a live demonstration of the website at http://estore.cw.kn.  Media representatives were provided with a chance to browse the site and provide immediate feedback.

One of the media representatives commented that although the website was fairly comprehensive and easy to navigate, it was missing a 360 degree view of the phones.

Taking this and other comments into consideration, IT Manager, Clyde Richardson explained that the site is a work in progress and was expected to continue its development over the coming months.

Earlier in the proceedings, chair of the event Laverne Caines hinted that it was the company’s intention to eventually incorporate the full suite of products and services on line.  “We believe that the time has come for simple requests like changes of address and transfer of
services to be done online with the requisite customer identification and this is the short to medium term vision of this project.”

Vice President of Mobile and Consumer Sales, David Lake addressing the gathering pointed out the enormous benefits that having an online mobile store can bring to the end user.

“Think about being able to avoid long lines and not having to worry about parking space,” he declared. “Moreover, you don’t have to rush through your shopping online as there’s no customer queue to get ahead of, and there are no opening and closing hours, having 24 hours access,” he added.

Immediately after the site was launched a number of online activities were tracked as customers used the pending Valentine’s Day celebration to shop for friends and loved ones.

In fact, a few purchases were made from overseas as gifts for persons living at home - a very interesting use of the site.

Throwing into the mix free gift wrapping, a free balloon and free delivery on Valentine’s Day, the staff at bmobile ensured a hassle free Valentine’s Day for several customers.

With the launch of its mobile online store, Cable & Wireless St. Kitts & Nevis has become the first telecomms provider in St. Kitts and Nevis to have such a facility and the second in the Cable & Wireless group in the Caribbean region.
