                            Spanish Ambassador visits CFB College

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: On Tuesday, February 19th, the Spanish Ambassador of State to St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Señor Jesus Silva, visited the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College as part of the on-going activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Diplomatic Week.

He used this occasion to present to the Modern Languages Department various audiovisual materials, including books, magazines, dictionaries and videos. It was also a reinforcement of the relationship that was forged previously between the governments of St. Kitts and Nevis and Spain.

As part of such relationship, a Spanish Lecturer, Señor Raúl Rubio Melus, has been attached to the college since August of last year. Mr. Austin DaSilva, Spain’s Honorary Consul to St. Kitts and Nevis, was also present at the ceremony.

His Excellency Señor Silva and Mr. DaSilva spoke about the expediency of the Spanish language and stressed the importance of being multi-lingual in today’s global world. Senor Rubio strengthened their assertions by stating that the learning of different languages is beneficial in a person’s development.

The Ambassador also mentioned the creation of scholarships for Kittitian students who wish to study in Spain. Mrs. Patricia Martin, Senior Lecturer in Spanish at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, thanked Ambassador Silva for his generous donation.
