~~Adz:Left~~ CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - MAGISTRATE Yasmine Clarke Monday imposed an EC$2 000 fine on Jalmin Myers for possession of controlled drugs.

Myers, a Stoney Grove resident, committed the offence on February 3, 2008.  He has to pay the fine within three months or serve a three-month jail term.

In the same court, Deon Griffins of Cotton Ground was fined EC$1 600 for possession of controlled drugs. He was ordered to pay the amount in three months or serve a two months in Her Majesty’ Prison.

In another development, Conrad Liburd was acquitted of a traffic offence after the Head of Nevis Traffic Department, Corporal James Hazel, was unable to convince the court that he had parked in a restricted area.

Liburd was in court for failing to pay EC$100 after he was served with a ticket in September 2007. In his defence, Liburd told the court that Corporal Hazel should have produced the measurements and pictures before the court to show that he had obstructed the traffic.

Liburd also told the court that there were no yellow lines between Slack Building and Scotia Bank at the time he packed the car.

    Magistrate Clarke dismissed the case.
