BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SINCE the February 15th implemented photo I.D. requirement for ferry travel between St. Kitts and Nevis, some boat operators still have not fully complied with the Maritime safety requirement.

The requirement stems from the Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS) and the Small Commercial Vessel Code (SCV) for the Caribbean, explained McClean Hobson, Director of Maritime Affairs.

One of the chief complaints circulating amongst boat captains and owners in opposition of the implementation of said requirement is that the of recording I.D.s is impeding the ticketing process.   ~~Adz:Right~~

Hobson disputed these claims, producing documentation which indicated that other Caribbean countries, including the twin islands Trinidad and Tobago, were operating under the same safety requirements.
