BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- Collin ‘Izum’ Matthew yesterday presented himself to officers at the Basseterre Police Station after the press had aired and published that the police wished to speak with him.

Reports state that on the morning of Tuesday, February 26 Matthew walked into Basseterre Police Station and has since been “interviewed” by members of the Criminal Investigation Department as investigations into the two young men missing at sea continue.

Matthew had captained the FV LADY SEA on the night the fishing vessel capsized in the Atlantic Ocean.

Matthew had reported to the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard that on the evening of February 19 while attempting to retrieve fish traps set in the Atlantic Ocean around the Canoe Bay area in the South East Peninsula, the vessel capsized and two of the three occupants have since been missing.

Members of the Coast Guard have been combing the area for the missing men, Keita Williams and Kasim ‘Dula’ Maynard of Newtown Project, and went as far as Antigua over the weekend in their searches.~~Adz:Right~~

Matthew told the Coast Guard that after a huge wave had caused the vessel to capsize, he, Williams and Maynard started swimming to shore.

Matthew  explained that when he looked to his rear he saw the two men, but on reaching dry land he realized they did not make it to safety after he conducted a search and did not see them.

The search for the missing continues and police investigations are ongoing.
