BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A senior employee of the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank and his wife were kidnapped and the perpetrators are demanding an undisclosed sum of money as ransom.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that sometime last night (Oct. 27), criminals kidnapped the couple and demanded that the husband go to the bank, which is situated at Bank Street in Basseterre, open the vault and return with an undisclosed sum of money before his wife would be released.

It also indicates that the husband was released with the aim of fulfilling the kidnappers’ demand, but at press time they were yet to receive the ransom.

This media house learned that the wife is still being held captive and the police had somehow learnt of the incident.

When contacted, Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Operations, Joseph Richardson confirmed that the kidnapping incident did occur and that he could not provide additional details at the time.

He however declared that officers were at the couple’s home investigating the matter and a press release would be issued shortly.
