    Man jailed for $40

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A male Newtown Ground resident was officially ordered to be a guest at Her Majesty’s Prison for one month because of his part in a March 3, 2008 act of “fraudulent conversion”.
     
    As per information provided in the most recent police press release, Neville Fahie appeared before one of the Federation’s Magistrate Courts on a fraudulent conversion charge, as he had converted funds given to him for the purpose of repairing a particular item.
     
    “…he took a flat tyre and $40 in cash from a young man with the intention of fixing the same flat tire. The tyre was taken to a repair center by Mr. Fahie but he kept the money and disappeared. He was later arrested and charged by police.”
     
    He was convicted and sentenced to serve one month at Her Majesty’s Prison.
     
    In other news, on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, Frigate Bay resident Roy Gumbs, who was charged with “battery” and “assault”, appeared before the District “A” Magistrate’s Court located at the Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore Judicial and Legal Services Complex, Basseterre, St. Kitts.   ~~Adz:Right~~
     
    According to police, they received a report from Jamaican-national Lloyd Anglio, who currently resides at Water Works, Cayon, indicating that “he was beaten and assaulted by Roy Gumbs of Frigate Bay, and subsequently investigations led to the arrest and abovementioned charges against Mr. Gumbs”.
     
    Gumbs was convicted of the first charge and ordered to pay $2 000 in one day or in default, serve two months at Her Majesty’s Prison.  He was freed of the other charge, as it was dismissed.
     
    College Street resident Jamaine Isaac was convicted of one count of “battery”, an offence which was committed on March 3, 2008 at Cayon Street.
     
    “Isaac attempted to snatch Dennicia Jeffers’ bag away from her. The young lady, who is from Newton Ground Village, was pushed to the ground in the process but Mr. Isaac was quickly caught by Police Officers and arrested and charged.”
     
    He was sentenced to serve two month in prison.
