    Terrence ‘Bol’ Wharton
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - LITTLE more than a week after he lost one of his legs as a result of a shooting incident, Terrence ‘Bol’ Wharton of Upper Cayon was arrested by police on finds of illegal drugs.

Yesterday morning, rumors abounded suggested that Wharton and three other individuals were travelling in a vehicle when they were stopped and searched by members of the security forces and guns and ammunition found.

Since then, SKNVibes has learnt that while Wharton was undeniably arrested, the circumstances outlined in the rumors are incorrect.

A police press release explains that earlier this morning a joint team of Defence Force and Police Force officers executed a search warrant on the homes of Wharton and Ashton Michael, who is also of Upper Cayon.

The release further informs, “A quantity of marijuana was found on both premises” and “194 marijuana plants were also uprooted from the premises which were close to each other. The plants ranged in height from seedlings to four feet.”   ~~Adz:Right~~

As a result of the operation, Wharton, Michael, Trevis Belgrove and a 17-year-old male were taken into police custody and “arrested for possession of the drugs”, Head of the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Office Inspector Cromwell Henry told SKNVibes.

Henry also told SKNVibes that Belgrove and the juvenile were also at Wharton’s premises at the time of the search operation.

The press release also speaks of two firearms and ammunition that were found by the said security unit in an empty lot of land within close proximity to both Wharton’s house and Michael’s premises.

“…One 9mm High Point Carbine rifle with nine rounds of ammunition and one 12 gauge shotgun with three rounds of 12 gauge ammunition were found. The weapons were taken in custody.  Investigations are ongoing…Also taken from the premises of Michael were one pair of binocular, one military flashlight, several pieces of camouflage uniform and one armored helmet.”

Inspector Henry told this media house that the men have not yet been charged but drug-related charges will be preferred.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2008, Wharton and Leon Griffin were shot while in the vicinity of the junction that connects Upper Cayon and Water Works. They were both taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital and Wharton’s leg was amputated.

Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
