BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SEARCHES for a student of the Windsor University School of Medicine, who was reported missing at sea, have yielded nothing and have given rise to the possibility that he might have perished.

According to information given in a police press release dated March 30, 2008, the male student, identified as Osama Hadi, went with two others to bathe in the sea at North Friars Bay when he experienced difficulty while in the water.

“Police are investigating a report made at about 5:40 p.m. on 28th March 2008. Investigations reveal that three students from the Windsor University went sea bathing at North Friars Bay.

Two of the students were in the water and encountered difficulty and shouted for help. The third student who was on the shore, along with a Ross University student who was walking her dog on the beach, went to their assistance. They were able to rescue one of the two; the other went under water and has not been seen since.”

The rescued student was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital via an Emergency Medical Services Unit and is currently warded there receiving treatment.

SKNVibes understands that since the incident occurred, land and sea patrols have been conducted on a daily basis. This media house also understands that in addition to the St. Kitts Nevis Coast Guard canvassing the area, a United States Coast Guard unit arrived in the Federation on Saturday and is assisting in the search for Hadi.  ~~Adz:Right~~

This media house was reliably informed that the missing man is from Chicago, USA and his father had arrived on St. Kitts last evening having heard of the incident concerning his son.

A representative of Windsor University told SKNVibes that students, members of the community and others have joined in the search effort and are canvassing the area with hopes of finding Hadi.

Investigations are ongoing, results of which would be made available in a subsequent posting.
