    – Legislation will soon go to the St. Kits and Nevis National Assembly to regulate axle loads of motor vehicles using public roads in the twin-island Federation.

The amendments will take into consideration the impact that wheel loads have on physical road conditions and brings local laws into compliance with international best practices in road regulations.

The proposed legislation comes in the wake of the West Basseterre Bypass Road Loan Agreement with the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank and follows extensive consultations involving the Department of Legal Affairs in the Office of the Attorney General, the Traffic Department of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the Ministry of Transport and members of other stakeholder groups.

The passage of the legislation is necessary to satisfy the West Basseterre Bypass Road Loan Agreement and the regulations will be presented in the National Assembly.  ~~Adz:Right~~
