Prime Minister of St. Vincent, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves
KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Just one week before St. Vincent’s Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves was due to appear before the court to answer to a second sexual assault charge, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has chosen to “discontinue” the case.

P.M. Gonsalves was also accused of rape in January of this year but saw the charges set aside in February following DPP Colin Williams’ decision to dismiss the matter due to “lack of evidence”.

The female police officer involved in that rape allegation claimed that the country leader had “assaulted” her in January of this year at his residence. After the case was discontinued, her lawyers appealed the DPP’s decision only to have that matter dismissed by a High Court judge in March.

Gonsalves’ most recent accuser is also being represented by one of the attorneys from the previous accuser’s legal team and claims that the incident occurred four years ago.

Reports indicate that the DPP wrote to the latest accuser’s attorney informing of the decision to discontinue the case set for April 14, citing ‘conflicting statements made by the accuser’ as the reason for the cessation of the matter.
