BASSETERRE St. Kitts – A Night at the Opera/Cabaret by Movado Model Agency promises to be a night like no other and a fashion event with a difference says agency CEO and Director Jason Amory.

The event is being held as part of the Tourism Month of Activities and will be held on November 20, at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at ECCB.

Amory, whose name is synonymous with fashion and modeling, said that the event will incorporate the art form of dance where various dances will be performed by the models.

“As a lover of classical music, I was listening to some music one day and I thought it would be good to incorporate dance in a fashion event, and not just dance but well choreographed routines performed by the models themselves. So it will be something new for attendees to see,” he said.

Amory has well over 10 years experience in dance and once owned a dance group before owning his agency.
His annual fashion event is anticipated well attended and features thrilling designs from local designers and boutiques.

He said that the costumes in which the models will be dancing are being made by Karen Matthew of Gem’s Fashions, and the designs of Sandra Weekes’ Island Girl and Judith Rawlins’ Brown Sugar will also be showcased.

Island Hopper, Caribelle Batik and iRep SKN Clothing and more will also display their designs at the event.

“I’m very excited about the event, out of all the models, there is only one who has had professional training as a dancer so this is also something new for the models as well,” Amory said.

He said the models have been practicing vigorously since February of this year and at first, preparations were stressful but it is now certain that the models are ready to put on a great show.

Last October, during Tourism month, Amory hosted a successful fashion event dubbed ‘Colours’ that featured over 20 local models showcasing designs from Brown Sugar, Petal Designs, Irie Lioness Designs and more.

The models were joined by those from the Thoroughbred group and past Classique models of which Amory was a part.

Amory stated that his agency has been around for 11 years and that he has been modelling for over two decades. His modelling career started with Classique Model Agency which was the brainchild of his friend, Angela Benjamin.

This year the reigning National Carnival Queen, Iantavian Queeley, her first runner-up Abigail Liburd and second runner-up Judy DuPont will also be strutting at the event along with Mr. Kool 2011, Nadaski Percival of Nevis and Miss St. Kitts-Nevis Caraibes Hibiscus Model Alsanarda Hanley who is also a product of S Model Management.

“The love I have for fashion and also the love I get from the models encourage me to continue in the industry. Their passion keeps me going and keeps the agency moving,” he said.

Amory also extended gratitude to sponsors and individuals for supporting the event, including the St. Kitts-Nevis, Anguilla National Bank.

It will be an Elegantly-casual Sunday afternoon event with class Tickets are on sale at Harper’s for $30 and at the door for $40 while children between 11-16 pay $15 at the door.
