(Basseterre, St. Kitts): KIDS of various ages were treated to a form of entertainment that most had never experienced when French ‘clowns’ juggled their way into their little hearts and minds.

The two members of the Gwada Circus Company visited St. Kitts and provided free entertainment and a workshop for primary schoolers yesterday April 7th.

The Gwada Circus has been together for three years and is comprised of, musician Vincent Cappelio knows as ‘Bambou’ and Yann Loial the juggler, known as ‘Bouba’. Both entertainers are from Guadeloupe but travel to different islands to showcase their skills as well as teach them to kids.

According to the two men they have been to other countries including St. Lucia, Grenada, and Dominica and will be traveling to St. Vincent and the Grenadines later next month.

Children from two primary schools were taught juggling and entertainment skills by Bambou and Bouba using various tools from their act in the training, from discs to sticks to juggling pins.

Bambou and Bouba taught the kids about three factors of juggling along with balancing and music and the importance of coordinating all three.

The juggling act said “We are not just here to show you but also to give you the desire to do it because there are not many jugglers in the Caribbean.”

Bambou said he would also like the children to extend their own imagination and develop the skills so that they could in turn teach others.

During their performance at the Dr. William Connor Primary School yesterday, the children were dazzled when the two men not only juggled, played guitar and bantered, but were especially amazed at the fire act.

The children were invited to participate, taking the stage and imitating the juggling, much to their parents’ enjoyment.
