Tony Matterhorn’s Pumpkin explosion!

Tony Matterhorn and Dj Shaggy
By: Nordia Demming, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - NUMEROUS vehicles and long lines ‘plastered’  Newton Ground on Saturday night (Nov 5)as crowds arrived to witness the ‘Man from Mars’ Tony Matterhorn himself.

On approaching the pumpkin-shaped dance floor section, the ears of dancehall and reggae fans were invaded by the sounds of Sweet Sista Sensia and DJ Shaggy… while the 'wicked' and 'nasty' rhythms of the Grand Masters Band caused attendees to stomp their feet and rock their bodies on the outskirts of the orange painted 'pumpkin.'

In the wee hours of the morning, sometime around 3:00, bedecked in a blue and yellow plaid shirt, the self-styled 'mentally ill' Tony Matterhorn made his grand appearance.

The popular DJ began his exquisite musical mix with a number of Dub Plates by artistes such as Busy Signal and Movado that paid tribute to Matterhorn’s impressive musical skills.

With a performance like no other, Matterhorn made up for his 4 year absence from the federation and made his current visit a 'bombshell' when his music exploded upon the ears of attendees and in response they waved, sang and flickered lighters demonstrating their enjoyment.

Paying special attention to the ladies who were highly fashionable that evening, Tony Matterhorn scorched the festive atmosphere with music that made the ladies ’bum flip’ and whine. A woman, dressed in a tight fitting purple dress caught his attention making him exclaim 'baby u body good’ much to the delight of his screaming fans.

Though the ‘Man from Mars’ did not perform any of his famous songs, he exhibited his red-flaring DJ-ing skills by mixing a number of his own hit songs such as “Good as Fe Dem” and the chart topping “Dutty Wine” along with other rhythms and Dub Plates, bringing his performance to a climax at 5:00 a.m.

The night was at its peak when ‘Tek it easy’ was the cry of patrons as they gyrated and 'sugar band bounce' to the Nu Vybz Band International music until sunrise.

This “hyper-rific” event came to an end approximately 6:45 am.
