What Is Going On With Social Security Money?

Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, November 6th 2011 - We must all be concerned about the possible misuse to which our Social Security contributions are being put.

Each employee in this nation makes a monthly contribution to the Social Security Fund, and each employer matches the contribution on behalf of each employee. Employees must pay some ten or more years before they can expect a Social Security benefit when they attain the age of 62 years. In other words, employees make a major financial sacrifice to Social Security with the expectation that money will be there for them when they become old, but the way that these scamps and conmen are spending and spreeing off the people’s money, it looks as though many workers will get a short share when they retire from their jobs.

The conmen of Labour and the conmen of Contec appear to have done a hatchet job on us, Social Security contributors, without us even realizing. Thanks to a leaked Memo from a Hero in the Social Security we are now aware of the racket that was being run under the name of Beacon Heights. Coincidentally, a company in the USA named Beacon Power just claimed bankruptcy after being bailed out by the Obama Administration to the tune of forty nine million dollars. Social Security in this Federation seems to be doing its own bailing out of Contec after abysmal business performances. Senior members of Contec’s management have been accused of constructing massive dwelling houses in Frigate Bay while the company floundered. The general public believes that Contec conspired with Directors of Social Security to bleed money from the fund under the disguise of investment.

Social Security paid over thirty one million dollars for the cane land now called Beacon Heights. It would be interesting to know how much of this money went into the Treasury, how much went to Contec with their ‘Option’ on the cane land and how much went to the Labour Party for the January 25th 2010 election. The payment of the land at $8.00 EC per sq foot was a rip-off of Social Security funds when cane land in St Kitts is currently being sold for less than four dollars per square foot. This was a major conspiracy against the people of this country using the money of the people in the Nation’s biggest corruption scheme. What is equally corrupt is the fact that only close friends and associates of the PM seem to be involved and benefiting from the Beacon Heights project. One marketing individual was heard to say that he can never be broke again, having been associated with Beacon Heights.

It was not only the land price which was a scam against the people but the planning or lack of it caused cost overruns in excess of twenty million dollars for the number of times that asphalted roads were washed away by rain. Another three million dollars was spent on building soak ways to accommodate soak pits under land designated for high priced houses. A further ten million dollars was spent to build a ‘solid’ concrete drain from the project perimeter to Lime Kiln Bay (it would have been considerably less expensive to use large prefabricated plastic pipes, as they did to cross the Island Main Road but Contec had to benefit). The cost overruns and overtime whenever it rained went to the pockets of those who benefited from the conflict of interest in Beacon Heights and Social Security. The infrastructure is still incomplete as an additional layer of two inches of asphalt is still to be laid to bring the road surfaces to that of the drains and electricity poles planted in the roads will have to be relocated. Poor planning is costing this country millions of dollars and it is unethical that those responsible should enrich themselves from scampishness and corruption.

No letter or report from the Minister will address the ‘bobol’ at Beacon Heights. This will take a public investigation to expose the parasites who have stolen millions of dollars from the Social Security fund and let the chips fall where they may. Whether the chips fall on the Chairman, the contractor, the project engineer or the Prime Minister; they must pay back or face jail if they are found guilty of theft and corruption.
